This week’s recipient of the Sportsfan Radio 1330 Student/Athlete of the Week is Harlem junior Leo Ruiz, Jr.
Leo is a three-sport athlete, participating in football, diving and track.
In the classroom, Leo boasts a 4.0 grade point average, which has earned him a spot on the National Honor Society. He has been part of Student Council for three years, has attended leadership seminars and was part of the Minority’s Male Leadership Conference.
He has also taken part in several community events including the suicide awareness walk.
This award is given to student/athlete’s with the emphasis on “student.” It honors those that not only take part in sports, but excel off the field/court and in the classroom and their community. Leo is a perfect example of that. For a video of Leo’s presentation, click here.
If you know a student/athlete that fits that criteria, go here to nominate.
