Harlem, Hononegah and Auburn will represent the area next weekend in O’Fallon at the IHSA State Boys Bowling Championships.

The three NIC-10 schools finished second, third and fifth out of 12 schools at Saturday’s Jefferson Sectional at Don Carter Lanes to advance. The Huskies tallied 6,319 pins to fall just short of sectional champ St. Charles North (6,335). Hononegah, the defending state champ who won last week’s Belvidere North Regional, tallied 6,123 for third. St. Charles East was third (6,012), with Auburn (5,990) and Lake Zurich (5,846) rounding out the other teams that advanced to state.

Other local schools who missed the cut to state were Oregon (7th), Belvidere (8th), Boylan (10th), Freeport (11th) and DeKalb (12th).

Austin Strite of Oregon was the top individual with a 1,398 series. He will head to state as an individual along with Landon Cowell of Jefferson and Justin Bragg of North.

DANCE SECTIONALS

Genoa-Kingston placed first in Class 1A of Saturday’s IHSA Huntley Sectional Dance competition. The Cogs tallied 82.40 points to top second place Aurora Central (81.87). Rochelle finished 5th (80.17) to also advance to next weekend’s State Finals.

Also advancing to state was Sycamore (3rd in Class 2A).
