Breaking Down the NFC North:

Overall, the division had a really strong draft weekend. Over the past few years, Minnesota has had the best classes, but this year, I really liked what Green Bay did, especially with their two first round picks. The Packers needed to reshape that secondary and Darnell Savage Jr. will be a really nice compliment to Adrian Amos in the back end. I’m still surprised the Packers did not draft a WR, and if you look at the depth chart, there is not a lot behind Devante Adams, especially with the departure of Randall Cobb.

Chicago also had a nice draft with their limited number of picks, but the Bears were still able to finally select the RB who fits Matt Nagy’s scheme best. David Montgomery has drawn some comparisons to Kareem Hunt, and has definitely shown the ability and flashes on the field over the past couple seasons at Iowa State. Montgomery was also recruited by the same coach (Matt Campbell) who recruited and coached Kareem Hunt at Toledo.

Three of the four teams in the division added a new TE within the first three rounds, so the Bears are going to have their hands full covering TJ Hockenson and Co. for the foreseeable future.

Each team in the NFC North made big free agent moves offseason, and when you add that to their own draft classes, this division might be the toughest in the entire NFL.
