It’s not too early for a gut check.

I’m a Bears fan. Admittedly a touch fair-weathered if I’m honest, but a Bears fan through and through.  As it’s all to east to slag a player or coach of your favorite team when they lose – it’s way too easy to lay praise after a win.  Last night was a fun watch, but I’m not so quick to praise anyone this time.  It’s not that I don’t want to.  After all it seems we could just write off the first two games as warm-up for the starters (since under Nagy no starters get any substantial preseason action), but is that what is actually happening here?  I have been suspect since the Bears failed to rise to the occasion against our rivals in game one of the season.  With all the pomp and circumstance leading into the 100th anniversary of the NFL, the Bears looked lost on September 5th.  That seems inexcusable for a Bears fan, right?  Is it my ‘fair-weatheredness’ talking here or am I being painfully realistic??  It will be interesting if this dominant win against Washington last night will give them the confidence they need to take on and get a win against a solid conference rival in Minnesota.  That will be a solid test for sure.  If they win will it then be time to be encouraged…???  Don’t ask me.  ~zander
