As we approach the first Friday in October, the NIC-10 standings are crowded at the top.  Two of those teams will be in action on Sportsfan Radio 1330 this Friday night.

The Boylan Titans have been the class of the conference so far.  John Cacciatore’s bunch have won games in a variety of ways.

In Week 3, the Titans won by a season-high, 42 points.  In the prior week, they bested Belvidere North in a game that saw both teams combine for less than three touchdowns.

Their latest victory is their most impressive to date.

At Hononegah, the Titans went into halftime tied at 21.  They were able to win the battle up front, which led to a 34-point offensive outburst in the second half.  When the dust settled, Boylan became the first team to defeat the Indians in conference play since 2016.

Boylan will hope to have Trey Malone (who suffered an ankle injury last week) in the backfield, alongside quarterback John Starck for Friday night’s contest.

Unfortunately for the Titans, the competition doesn’t get any easier.

The Harlem Huskies enter Friday’s game with as winners of four straight, by a combined total of 218-47.  Coach Bob Moynihan has gotten his team back on track after a tough opening-night loss against Hononegah.

James Cooper, Jr. has led the charge for Harlem.  The quarterback has already set a school record for passing yards…and he’s halfway through his junior season.  Cooper is also a mile ahead of most passing statistics this season.  His Huskies have several talented options for him to throw to.

As of Monday night, the forecast at gametime calls for a light wind and temps in the 50s – perfect for Friday night football.

Catch all the action with Bill Koch and Dean Ervin on Sportsfan Radio 1330-AM.  It’ll be available to stream on the Sportsfan Rockford app, as well as the listen live button on the top of this website.  The pre-game show starts at 6:45.
