It’s been a tough week for the NIC-10 conference and the surrounding areas for local football teams with many of them having to cancel their remaining regular season games. Boylan was the latest team to cancel their final 2 games of the season including a scheduled undefeated showdown on Saturday with the Harlem Huskies. The Titans will have to quarantine for the next 2 weeks due to the health & safety protocols put in place by the IHSA & the NIC-10 conference.
With the last minute cancelation Harlem was able to quickly find a new opponent to play Saturday afternoon. The undefeated Harlem Huskies will host the Prairie Ridge Wolves in a non-conference game set to kickoff at 1pm. Regardless of the outcome on Saturday Harlem will await the winner of East/Freeport from Division B for the chance to play for a NIC-10 conference title.
With Auburn already in quarantine for the last couple of weeks, 3 more NIC-10 teams will also be forced to cancel their upcoming games. Adding to the list is Boylan, Guilford and Belvidere North. While in the Big Northern conference Mendota, Rock Falls, Oregon and North Boone were also forced to quarantine this week leaving the schools no choice but to cancel their upcoming games.
The Dixon Dukes were scheduled to play Mendota this weekend but instead will battle another conference foe in Stillman Valley on Saturday with kickoff being scheduled for 2pm. The Cardinals were scheduled to play Rock Falls this week before their season was cut short.
