I remember one of my favorite summer traditions was going to Sinnissippi, while my Paw (grandpa) chased me down the bike path on my tricycle, and then after we would head to Dairy Depot for a chocolate dipped in chocolate ice cream cone.

I will never forget dropping mine on the ground on the owner came over to me as I was crying and gave me a new one. It became one of our favorite places to not only spend time as a family but as I got older, spending time sitting on the picnic tables eating delicious ice cream treats with friends.

Established in 1984, Dairy Depot ice cream parlor business and building, which is located in Loves Park, Illinois on N. 2nd St. is now up for sale for a package deal of $300,000 by the owner.

Dairy Depot Owner Diane Elliott says, “Our family’s top priority is to transition the business to a new owner who will help preserve the ‘quality of place’ that our community has grown to enjoy at the Dairy Depot.”

Diane Elliot and her husband John have owned the business and the building since 2000 but after John passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack, she has been working to make sure the ice cream parlor stayed alive.

Dairy Depot says a prospective buyer should be prepared to own and operate the Dairy Depot business, own both the business and the building, as the business pays annual rent for two of the five commercial spaces in the building and be a cash buyer for both the business ($125,000) and the building ($195,000).
