ROCKFORD — What do you do when there’s fresh snow on the ground? Build a snowman of course!

The Rockford Park District, with support from Collins Aerospace, is hosting a communitywide Rocky the Snowman contest this winter. The contest is part of the district’s Winer Flurry initiative.

Rocky the Snowman kits are available for pickup at Carlson Ice Arena , Mercyhealth Sportscore Two  and UW Health Sports Factory. There are about 2,000 kits available.
The kit includes:
  • Buttons for eyes
  •  Black Solo® cup for nose
  •  Blue scarf
  •  Blue Kool-Aid® and spray bottle
  •  Instructions

The Rockford Park District will select one grand prize winner for the most creative “Rocky the Snowman,” and they will receive a special surprise Rockford Park District gift basket.

Anyone who submits a photo will also be entered into a separate drawing for a chance to win a four-pack of tickets to Snow Park at Alpine Hills valid for the 2022-2023 season. Five winners will be drawn and will be announced after March 1 on the Rockford Park District website and Facebook. You’re also encouraged to post a picture or video of your Rocky the Snowman on your favorite social media site using the hashtag #rpdfun.

The deadline to submit your photo is Sunday, Feb. 27. Snap a photo of your snowman, and submit it to webmaster@rockfordparkdistrict.org.
