Comfort Keepers to celebrate National Day of Joy with free community event at Anderson Gardens

ROCKFORD — Comfort Keepers will celebrate the annual National Day of Joy on Wednesday with a free community celebration at Anderson Japanese Gardens.

The event includes a musical performance from Rockford-based singer and songwriter Emily Hurd. There will also be ice cream, refreshments and games.

The event is scheduled to take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson Gardens, 318 Spring Creek Road.

The National Day of Joy was created five years ago by senior caregivers as a way to emphasize the importance of seniors finding joy in life. The goal is to emphasize the importance of being joyful to improve one’s sense of well-being.
