This week’s recipient of the Sportsfan 1330 Student/Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Forest City Dental, is Oregon senior wrestler Chase Clark, a perfect example of what this honor is all about
This award recognizes area athletes who make major contributions in the classroom, their schools and their communities.
From the athletic side, Chase finished third in Class 1A in the 152-pound brackett at state wrestling, giving him a 45-9 record for the season
From the student side, you can argue he is even more of a success
He carries a 3.6 grade point average including honor classes in science, biology, English, chemistry, US History, college prep and AP statistics. He is also getting dual credit through Kishwaukee Community College in English and Speech.
And he is very involved in the community, including clean up days at Methodist Church, blood drive donations and Oregon High School service days. He has also done volunteer work at swim meets, club wrestling tournaments and the Dark Horse Lodge Trek for Troops, among many others.
