Play sessions will now be 2 ½ hours in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoons: Wednesdays 9:30-Noon and Thursdays through Sundays 9:30-Noon and 1-4:00 p.m. Capacity limits are increasing from 125 to 200 guests per play session, which is 20% capacity level. “We heard from many members and guests that they wanted the option of longer play sessions and also appreciated the smaller number of guests in the museum at one time,” explains Associate Director Mike Rathbun. “Based on the state’s guidelines, we could operate at a much higher capacity, but we want to take things slow and be extra protective of our many young guests who are not yet able to receive vaccinations,” Rathbun adds.

All guests (members and public) must still make advance reservations for play sessions. The time between sessions will be used for enhanced cleaning and sanitization. Reservations can be made at http://www.discoverycentermuseum.org/reservations#Reserve. Reservations can also be made by phone at 815-963-6769.  Face coverings will still be required for all guests ages 5 and older and strongly encouraged for children younger than 5. Temperature checks and health screenings are required of all guests and staff prior to museum entry.
