A lot of people got dogs during the pandemic or at least thought about it. And now we have some data on the TYPES of dogs we were looking for. Someone looked through Google Trends to find the type of dog each state googled the most in the past year. And the list is surprisingly diverse. 24 different breeds were #1 in at least one state. And only six breeds got more than two states. But there was still a clear winner.

1. Bulldogs. They were the most-searched dog breed in 10 different states . . . including Illinois and Georgia, which makes sense because of the Georgia Bulldogs.

2. Havanese (pronounced hav-an-EEZE). They’re next with five states . . . New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Nebraska, and Idaho.

3. Four breeds got three states each: Cocker spaniels in Alabama, South Carolina, and Utah . . . German shepherds in Kentucky, North Carolina, and West Virginia . . . Golden retrievers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin . . . and Greyhounds in Colorado, Connecticut, and Kansas.

4. And six breeds got two states each: Boxers, Dachshunds, Corgis, Pugs, Samoyeds, and West Highland Terriers.
