ROCKFORD — Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois has announced a new Accelerate program designed to give young adults who have been through the legal system a second chance.

The program will provide training in truck driving, forklift operation and warehousing at no cost to the individual.

Registration is open to those ages 18-24 with previous involvement in the legal system who reside in Winnebago, Boone or Stephenson counties. All classes are free. To sign up now, call 815-408-1557.

“This is a great opportunity to tap into an industry that is in-demand and provides opportunities to make well beyond a livable wage,” Keyanna Washington Simpson, manager of Goodwill’s Accelerate Program, said in a news release.

Those interested can attend a free informational session at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Goodwill’s Mission Services building located at 850 N. Church St. in Rockford.
