We are 6 weeks into the 2020 NFL season lets check in on some of our former local athletes and see how they are doing with their teams.

Lutheran-Illinois State-Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson

After giving up a key fumble in last week’s lost to in-division rival Houston RB James Robinson rebounded well in Sunday’s matchup vs the Lions. Robinson finished the game with 24 receiving yards on 4 catches including one for a touchdown. He also had 12 carries for just 29 yards in Sunday’s contest vs the Lions. With the teams 34-16 loss to the Lions, the Jacksonville Jaguars have now fallen to 1-5 on the season, losing their 5th straight.

Among all other RBs in the league Robinson’s is still 3rd in receiving yards with 207, trailing only Saints superstar Alvin Kamara & Carolina’s Mike Davis. The Jaguars will have their hands full this weekend as they hit the road to play the Los Angeles Chargers.

Boylan-Wisconsin Platteville-New Orleans Saints-Arizona Cardinals TE Dan Arnold

After not receiving a single target in the last two weeks Cardinals TE Dan Arnold has hit a little rough patch but on Monday night Arnold did draw a pretty big pass interference call in the endzone against the defense which helped the Cardinals by setting up a 1 yard score by RB Kenyan Drake. Arizona went on to steam roll the Cowboys on the road in primetime 38-10. The former Boylan standout should have plenty on opportunities this weekend as his squad gets ready to play their in-division rival Seattle Seahawks.

Boylan-Northwestern-Green Bay Packers DL Dean Lowry

Last weekend the Packers had their bye week giving the team plenty of time to prepare for QB Tom Brady & company on Sunday. Tampa Bay had other plans as they scored 38 unanswered points to win the game easily. Dean Lowry did his part finishing the game with 5 total tackles but the Packers defense gave up a total of 158 rushing yards to the Buccaneers.

Green Bay will stay on the road this week as they have a date with the Houston Texans. Last time the Packers played the Texans was back in 2016 during Dean Lowry’s rookie season where Lowry made his first career professional sack on QB Brock Osweiler!!

At the College Level:

Harlem Huskie-Syracuse Orange DL Joshua Black

The Syracuse Orange have struggled so far this season already off to a 1-4 start after last week’s 38-21 loss to Liberty at home. But the former Harlem standout has been electric on the defensive end. Racking up just 3 tackles a week ago vs Duke and then had 8 total tackles vs Liberty including a key solo tackle in the game. Syracuse will have their hands full this coming weekend as they get ready to play the Nation’s #1 team the Clemson Tigers.
