Better Business Bureau & MembersAlliance Offer Free Community Shred Day

October 8, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Better Business Bureau, Rockford Regional Office and MembersAlliance Credit Union invites consumers and businesses to protect their identities by shredding unwanted personal, financial or confidential documents for FREE at the Community Shred Day Saturday, October 8, 2022 at:

MembersAlliance Credit Union
2550 S. Alpine Rd. (corner of Alpine & Harrison)
Rockford, IL
9:00 a.m. – 12 Noon
For more info call – 815-963-2222

On site shredding services are provided to help consumers mitigate the risk of identity theft
and safely destroy personal/confidential documents they no longer need. Consumers may
bring a maximum of 2 boxes per car for shedding.

For access to the shredding enter off of S. Alpine into the shopping center and drive south
to the credit unions drive-up area.
The Community Shred Day is one way that the Better Business Bureau and its Accredited
Businesses partner MembersAlliance Credit Union help Rockford area residents prevent
identity theft.

The following are suggestions for deciding what to shred and what to keep:
• A good rule of thumb is to keep all tax returns and supporting documentation for
seven years. The IRS has three years from your tax-filing date to audit, and has six
years to challenge a claim.
• Keep credit card statements for seven years if tax related expenses are
documented.
• Keep paycheck stubs for one year. Be sure to cross reference the paycheck stub to
the W-2 form.
