The South Main Mercado is an outdoor market, serving south Rockford, and the Rockford community. It started as an idea to showcase the Hispanic/Latino Community and has grown into a larger community event that will hopefully continue for years to come.
The Mercado RETURNS. This year, the footprint will be larger than 2023. It will be filled with a variety of local retail vendors (jewelry, clothing, art, more), food trucks, and a variety of community partners, especially those who office bilingual support and service.
This event is meant to highlight the beauty (and importance) of south Rockford. It will be a way to open the neighborhood and its businesses, up to the rest of the community. It will be a fun and engaging way for the community to interact with local small businesses.
In 2024, South Main Mercado unites under Ethnic Heritage Museum and Comprehensive Community Solutions, two pillars of the South Main corridor.
