The Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) will present their annual Star Spangled Spectacular on Wednesday, July 3 at 8 p.m. in Rock Valley College’s Starlight Theatre.
RSO Music Director Yaniv Attar tapped Rockford area native Kevin Stites, a nationally renowned Broadway and Pops conductor, to conduct this year’s celebration of our great nation. Having conducted several RSO concerts, including last year’s sold-out Holiday Pops, and a solo concert with Kristin Chenoweth and the RSO, this marks Stites’ Star Spangled Spectacular debut.
Featuring a variety of patriotic pieces by John Williams, Aaron Copland, Stephen Sondheim and more, the Star Spangled Spectacular salutes our country and the great American composers. The concert will also include the always popular tribute to our community’s veterans along with appearances from State Representative Maurice West and acclaimed vocalist Bethany Thomas.
Food trucks will be available on-site starting at 6 p.m. Tickets range from $26-$49. Youth 18 and under are $10, while college students are $15 with a valid student ID. Purchase tickets online at rockfordsymphony.com or call the RSO box office at 815.965.0049 to order. In the event of a sell-out, overflow and lawn seats may become available.
