The Rock River Anything That Floats Raft Race was a sight to see on The Rock River Sunday.
Another successful year in the books for the Rock River Anything That Floats Raft Race. Over 35 floats tried their best to get down the Rock River as fast as they could.
The starting line was at the Auburn Street Bridge and ended at Prairie Street Brewing Co. along the Rock River. It was no easy feat, but teams from all over the Stateline were ready to get their ship together.
The day started with severe storms, and for a little while, it looked like the Race wouldn’t go on as planned. But, Mother Nature cleared the skies, brought the sun and made for a pleasant day along the Rock River. The shore was lined with people and families ready to see the sights.
If you weren’t there, you surely missed out on the great beer, food, live music and of course, the crazy things we saw on the Rock River. Here’s the things we never thought we would see on The Rock River:
2. 8 People on a Raft Built for 4
3. A Double Decker Float, with Bar Included
4. An Airplane
5. The Rockness Monster
6. A Truck
7. An Even BIGGER Truck
8. Thomas The Train
9. A Man Covered in Cork
10. A Band
11. Thousands of Rubber Duckies
But that wasn’t all!
Once all of the rafts docked at Prairie Street, the party continued with live music, food, beer and one heck of a party!
A special thank you to everyone who made the race possible and such a special day. To those who floated, volunteered or came to cheer the floats on, thank you!
Proceeds from the Raft Race benefit Rockford’s Fourth of July and the Ski Broncs. Without you, and your continued support, we wouldn’t have the amazing event that we do!
Get your ship together, we’ll see you next year!
