Belvidere North 34-23 Freeport: North spoils Freeport’s playoff hopes.
Freeport came into Friday night in hopes of returning to the IHSA playoffs but there was only one problem. They had to get through the Blue Thunder first. Belvidere North dominated the first half defensively allowing less than 50 yards of total offense through two quarters. Then things started to change late in the 4th quarter as Freeport started to make a late push. The Pretzels were not going down without a fight as they rallied off 23 unanswered points before North decided to take control and end the game on their terms. Spoiling the Pretzels playoff chances as Freeport finishes the 2019 season 4-5. While Belvidere North tied for 2nd place in the conference with a 7-2 record.
Guilford 14-13 Belvidere: Guilford ends their school record 18 game losing streak!
Guilford and Belvidere went into Friday night both in search of their first win of the season. Neither team wanted to close out their 2019 season winless. The Vikings came running out the gate and jumped out to an early 14-0 lead at half. The Bucs opened up the second half with a quick score making it a 14-7 game. Then Belvidere quickly scored another touchdown in the 3rd quarter to make it a one point game but luckily the Vikings were able to hold on for the teams first win of the season, ending their school record 18 game losing streak. Unfortunately with Friday’s loss the Belvidere Bucs suffer just their third winless season in the last 100 years.
Boylan 50-8 East: The Titans cruise to another undefeated NIC-10 Title!
It was Senior night around not only in the NIC-10 but in the entire area and across the country so their was a lot of emotion in the air on Friday night. East has had Boylan’s number over the last couple of seasons winning in 2 of their last 3 meetings vs the Titans. Boylan wanted to even up the series again as the Titans jumped out to a very early 14-0 lead over the E-Rabs and never looked back after that as they roll to another undefeated NIC-10 conference title!
Hononegah 33-8 Jefferson: The Indians roll as they secure a tie for 2nd place in the NIC-10!
After playing back to back close games against Auburn and East, the J-Hawks had a lot of momentum going into Friday night. Hononegah had other plans after they jumped out to a 19-0 first half lead and never looked back after that as the Indians go on to beat Jefferson for the third straight season. With Friday’s loss Jefferson finished the 2019 season 3-6 while Hononegah tied with Belvidere North and Harlem for 2nd place in the conference standings.
Harlem 55-12 Auburn: The Huskies offense continues to impress as they improve to 7-2.
The Huskies offense has been something else this season as they finish the 2019 regular season with the NIC-10’s #1 offense. But Friday night Harlem’s defense I think stole the show as they were able to hold Auburn to just 12 total points. The Knights have shown this season that they can not only put up points but they can put up points in a hurry if they need to. Auburn finished 5th in the NIC-10 with 219 total points. In fact the Knights also allowed a total of 219 points, ranking 5th in the conference as well. After ending their 3 year winless drought to Auburn last season, Harlem is starting to build their own little win streak vs the Knights.

6A
After a very impressive 2019 regular season Belvidere North secured the #3 seed in the upper part of the 6A bracket. The Blue Thunder will get set to play the #14 seed Lake Forest. The game is scheduled for 7:30 in Belvidere this coming Friday night with the gates opening at 6:30. North will be bringing in one of the best rushing attacks in the NIC-10 conference to go along with their ferocious defensive front heading into Friday night’s match-up!
7A
After tying for 2nd place in the NIC-10 Hononegah secured the #10 seed in the 7A bracket along with Harlem who secured the #11 seed. Hononegah will look to keep their three game win streak alive as they get set to battle #23 Fox Lake(Grant Community). Game time TBA. Grant Community comes into this match-up in a little bit of a slump as they have lost 3 of their last 5 games including a 2 game skid to close out the regular season.
As for the #11 Harlem Huskies they will be matched up with #22 Wheaton(W. Warrenville South). The game will be played on Friday night at 7pm under the lights at Clyde F. Peterson Stadium. Warrenville South comes into this match-up on a little bit of a hot streak, winners of 3 of their last 5 games. The Tigers are also a very good road team, 4-1 so far this season. The Huskies will have their hands full Friday night.
The Auburn Knights also made the playoffs as they secured the #29 seed in the 7A bracket. The Knights will be taking on the #4 seed Arlington Heights (Hersey). The game will be scheduled for Friday night at 7pm on the road in Arlington Heights. Hersey’s only loss this season came last week in a 38-35 loss to Rolling Meadows. As an 8-1 team Hersey is a very good all around team especially at home, 5-1 so far this season. The Knights will be in for a challenge on Friday night.
