We might not have any local high school sports in the near future but what we can do is update you on some of the area’s former local standouts who are making impacts at the college level and in the NFL!

Lutheran-Illinois State-Jacksonville Jaguars RB James Robinson

James Robinson had another big game on the ground last weekend vs division rival Houston. The Jaguars rushed the ball 27 times with Robinson taking 25 of those carriers for 99 yards and a touchdown run. Jacksonville went on to lose the game 27-25 but Robinson continues to make a name for himself at the NFL level. Robinson currently sits just outside the top 5 in rushing, (6th place) trailing Atlanta’s Todd Gurley for 5th place by just 4 yards with 580 yards on the season thus far. Right now James Robinson is on pace for 1,610 yards from scrimmage which would be more than any other undrafted player in NFL history.

Boylan-Northwestern-Green Bay Packers DL Dean Lowry

Two weeks ago the Packers were upset at home falling to the Vikings by the final score of 28-22. The Packers rush defense was terrible as Minnesota was able to rush for 173 yards thanks to RB Dalvin Cook. Dean Lowry had a nice game individually picking up his first sack of the season along with another tackle for loss, finishing with 3 total tackles for the game. Now last Thursday night the Packers defense didn’t have to be on the field that much as the team crushed the 49ers 34-17. Dean Lowry finished the game with 2 total tackles and helped hold the 49ers to just 55 rushing yards.  Now Dean Lowry’s Packers will meet James Robinson’s Jaguars this Sunday up in Green Bay for a noon kickoff on FOX.

Boylan-Wisconsin-Platteville-New Orleans Saints-Arizona Cardinals TE Dan Arnold

Dan Arnold and the Cardinals were looking fresh coming off a huge win vs Seattle 2 weeks ago and then having a bye week to rest before the team welcomed in the Miami Dolphins. It was a duel in the desert between 2 young QBs in Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa and Arizona’s Kyler Murray. Arnold was able to make one big play late in the game catching his only target for the game for 16 yards, helping Arizona move the chains. In the end Miami came out on top winning the game 34-31. Next up Arizona welcomes in the Buffalo Bills, that game is scheduled for 3:05pm on CBS.

At the College Level:

Harlem-Syracuse Orange DL Joshua Black

Syracuse struggled again last weekend as they lose another home game to Boston College 16-13 with their record falling to 1-7 on the season. Joshua Black and the Syracuse defense kept things interesting for most of the game as Joshua Black was able to contribute with 4 total tackles including 3 of his own. Syracuse is expected to hit the road next Friday to battle the Louisville Cardinals.
